Welcome to the
Church of the Nazarene
(Wesleyan-Evangelical)
Southend St., Daubhill, Bolton
We are a church which serves the local community, small enough to be friendly but large enough to have plenty going on. Our patterns of worship are varied but often follow a traditional free church form. Congregational singing is enthusiastic and our music leaders skilled. Preaching is Bible based and Christ centred.
We are a local church entirely run and financed by its members, but part of a world-wide denomination with all the strength and background that this gives.
We have a full programme for all ages. The Island for Primary and Junior boys and girls; Rainbows, Brownies, Boys' Caravan; "Connect" - Youth Club, Prime Time luncheons and fellowship meetings, house-groups, choir, Chats and Crafts, Crafts for parents and children, Kindergarten School.
Our minibus is available as necessary to pick people up for morning service and the Island and is used by our various groups especially Young People and Prime Time.
The church was established on this site on 11th July 1931, in a tent on what had been the Daubhill market. It arose from the evangelistic efforts of a team of Cliff College Trekkers.
A more permanent building was opened on 31st October of that year and was known to generations as The Holiness Tabernacle.
The foundation stone of the present Sanctuary was laid on 11th August 1962 and extensions since then have provided the excellent facilities we now enjoy. The Sanctuary was updated in 2009.
